Introduced in 1991, this variety is protected by PVP (Plant Variety Protection Act) and may not be multiplied.
Imperial Star produces a more uniform than previous varieties producing and was specifically bred for annual production.
Imperial Star, reportedly does not need as much vernalization as Green Globe, is thorn-less, and chokes are primarily green, but can have some purple tinting.
The variety has shown broad climatic adaptability producing 4 to 4.5 inches edible buds (chokes). Harvest 150 to 160 days from sowing.
